2024 Queen of Whites trocken

“Very juicy but cool, with elegant acidity that keeps this medium-bodied dry riesling lively right through the long, citrusy finish. A wealth of herbal and fresh lime aromas plus a touch of tannins add complexity. From young vines in the Krone site. Drink or hold. ” 90 | S. Pigott | www.jamessuckling.com

2023 Queen of Whites trocken

““Huch!” is what you say in German when you are surprised by something you weren’t expecting. In English, you might say “oops,” but it’s possibly not the same because it sounds more like a mishap than luck. “Huch” means both, but here it undoubtedly means the luck of a real surprise. Entirely based on their own grapes, in contrast to former years, the 2023 Riesling Trocken shows an intense yellow color and opens with an accordingly fruit-intense and well-concentrated Riesling nose that represents perfectly ripe and aromatic fruit of rare quality. Do you dislike mangos or passion fruit? Leave this wine out! It is incredibly juicy and aromatic on the palate yet also refined and still light, uplifted by its delicate and frisky acidity and its remarkably delicate finish. This is a Riesling that never hurts the palate of those who fear Riesling for its acidity and often austere/mineral character. This is more irresistible than mineral. Oops! 12.5% stated alcohol. Screw-cap closure. Tasted in September 2024.” 90 | S. Reinhardt | www.robertparker.com

“The 2023 Riesling is made from 5-to-15-year-old vines and was first produced in 2019—note that in some export markets, this wine is called Queen of Whites. Fresh, juicy pear, lemon and crunchy apple promise fruit and freshness in equal measure. The palate is vividly light, translucent, fresh and bone-dry. This is energetic, utterly refreshing and incredibly animating. (Bone-dry)” 89 | A. Krebiehl | www.vinous.com

“A forthrightly citrusy and generous dry riesling. However, it is more lemon curd and dried lemon peel than fresh, zesty fruit. Excellent substance that exactly balances the moderately firm acidity and delicate dried-herb character.” 91 | S. Pigott | www.jamessuckling.com

“This wine is from younger vines. It is medium-full bodied with a good acidic feel (the vintage is relatively low in total acidity but also low in pH). There’s pleasing lemon-lime fruit here, making for a good wine for aperitifs and simple food such as roast chicken. Screw cap closure. 12.5% stated alcohol. Last digits of A.P. Nr.: 02 24.” 87/B- | C. Kolm | TheFineWineReview

2022 Queen of Whites trocken

“From own but also from purchased grapes, the Tesch 2022 Riesling trocken opens with a clear, subtle, beautifully floral and coolish Riesling bouquet of white fruits and is somehow reminiscent of Ruwer Rieslings from the Mosel. The palate is clear, fresh and savory, revealing lovely and stimulating grippy green and white fruit and a medium-weighted body. The finish is highly stimulating and precise. This is a gorgeous Riesling from vineyards that are trained according to climatic challenges. The grapes are protected by the shadows of the leaves, and the leaf wall is higher to also give shade to the rows between the vines. This is the old Spätelse trocken style, if you so will, which means: the generation before the Grosses Gewächs (GG) aimed for the Auslese trocken style by picking highly ripe and partly overripe grapes in the beginning. Precision is back in most of the GGs today, yet the power remains in too many, namely Rieslings, where the focus on precision, finesse and elegance would be the finer solution. At least for my palate. This Riesling trocken is, therefore, a wine of the vintage for me since it shows that there are still methods for handcrafting a cool-climate Riesling style.” 90 | S. Reinhardt | www.robertparker.com

“Stacks of yellow apple fruit. Generous and refreshing with good depth for this humble category, properly dry with an appealing harmony, the lemony acidity not a jot too obvious. Drink now.” 90 | S. Pigott | www.jamessuckling.com

“Full screwcapped bottle just 1,158 g. Bravo! And it looks eminently respectable. Hot, dry vintage. Clean, simple with fairly aggressive acidity at this stage. Dry finish with a slight chew. Drink 2023 – 2025“ 15.5/20 | J. Robinson | www.jancisrobinson.com

2021 Queen of Whites trocken

“Who says that dry riesling is austere and hard to understand? This moderately crisp wine with a pithy structure, full of quince and pomelo fruit, makes a bold statement and is light-years removed from the norm. Plenty of dried herb character at the generous finish.” 91 | S. Pigott | www.jamessuckling.com

2020 Queen of Whites trocken

“This generous and crisp dry riesling has got plenty of pear and yellow-apple character, plus no less attractive herbal freshness, but moderate acidity. That combination says “drink me!”” 91 | S. Pigott | www.jamessuckling.com

2019 Queen of Whites trocken

Who can resist this juicy, but properly dry riesling that’s brimming with fruit-salad character. Slightly pithy but clean finish. Drink now. Screw cap.

2018 Queen of Whites trocken

The 2018 Riesling Trocken (AP 06 19) is a new wine from Martin Tesch, and it ranks between the more simple Liter bottling and the iconic Riesling Unplugged. Sourced from newer vineyards and labeled in frog green, the 2018 represents Tesch’s Nordic Riesling style perfectly. The nose displays a clear, fresh and straight yet intense and stony-scented bouquet with (green) apple, lemon and herbal (sage) aromas intermixed with a hint of oak, although no oak material has been used here. Clear and elegant on the textured and well-balanced palate, this is a medium-bodied and fruity but fine and linear dry Riesling with nice phenolic structure, good mineral freshness and an aromatic, wellstructured and sustainable finish. The acidity is ripe and perfectly integrated into the riper and juicy fruit. If the Unplugged is too radically lean for your taste, try this one—it’s really excellent and more lush and round but, like the Unplugged, leaves the palate with salivating grip and purity. 13% alcohol. Tasted in August 2019. | Drinking Date 2019-2030.
