Johannes Tesch receives the 2026 “NEXT GENERATION” Young Winemaker Award
The 2026 HENRIS Awards once again highlight the excellence of German wineries and their wines. The new 2026 HENRIS Wine Guide was presented earlier this week at a festive event at the Rosewood Munich in Munich. This “new” wine guide continues the tradition of the renowned GAULT-MILLAU Wine Guide.
Among those honored is Johannes Tesch, who received the “NEXT GENERATION” award as a young winemaker—an honor we are very pleased about. Johannes Tesch is still at the beginning of his journey, which makes this recognition of his dedication, talent, and potential all the more motivating.
Johannes Tesch represents the eleventh generation at our family winery. Together with his father, Martin Tesch, and the winery team, he is shaping the transition into the future for one of the region’s most renowned Riesling producers. Before taking on responsibility at his own winery, Johannes gained practical experience during his training with well-known Riesling producers on the Moselle and Saar, where he deepened his understanding of white wines crafted with artisanal precision. This year, he will complete his studies in oenology at the renowned Geisenheim University.
In recent years, Johannes Tesch has already had a decisive influence on the development of the family-run winery. His focus is on producing dry Rieslings, which are characteristic of the estate: crisp, mineral-driven, and unadorned. New additions include several top-tier sweet wines that reflect his experience on the Mosel and Saar. Under his leadership, the winery’s profile has become even more distinct, and the most recent vintages rank among the most highly regarded in the winery’s recent history. Johannes Tesch thus embodies both continuity and innovation in classic German Riesling viticulture along the Nahe.
And the best for last: Johannes Tesch and his team have just completed a perfect 2026 harvest.
