LÖHRER BERG
The LÖHRER BERG (= empty mountain) in Langenlonsheim is one of the oldest Riesling vineyards in the Nahe. In 1688 Elector Philip William of the Palatinate ordered the planting of Riesling here to the exclusion of all other grape varieties. Numerous natural springs nourish and enhance the loamy, gravel-laden soil and help make it exceptionally fertile. The vines, in place for more than 40 years already, produce juicy and apple-laced Rieslings that often develop subtle earthy notes with a bit of age.

Vintage 2022
„From a very dry and warm vintage that stopped any development in the vines in August due to the drought, the 2022 Löhrer Berg Langenlonsheim Riesling trocken is a rich and generous, a little tannic but still stimulating and saline Riesling with a dry and textured finish. 12% stated alcohol. Screw-cap closure.“ 92 Points
Vintage 2021
„The 2021 Löhrer Berg Langenlonsheim Riesling Trocken is from a coolish and rainy year and opens with a deep, pure, saline and tonic bouquet of lime zests and salt. Elegant and linear on the palate, with a grippy and still young and restrained character, this is a full-bodied, even rich but super vital and still restrained dry Riesling that is still in its development. This dense, (extract) sweet, finely tannic and long wine has refreshing lemony notes and surprising substance, complexity and potential. 13% stated alcohol. Screw-cap closure.“ 93+ Points
Vintage 2020
„The 2020 Löhrer Berg Langenlonsheim Riesling Trocken is pure yet intense and stony (or dusty) on the nose that shows vital lemon as well as saline notes. Pure, fresh and vital on the palate, this is a lean, mineral and savory, lively but also juicy and remarkably finessed Riesling with a rather hard finish. 12.5% stated alcohol. Screw-cap closure.“ 91 Points
Vintage 2019
„Tesch’s golden 2019 Löhrer Berg Langenlonsheim Riesling Trocken is fragrant and stony on the saline, fresh, fine, bright nose. From vines planted about 80 years ago, this is a full-bodied, pure, vital, nervous, saline and tensioned Riesling with grip, salt, yellow plum flavors and excellent aging potential. It’s a fabulous, still youthful and very promising Riesling. 13% stated alcohol. Screw-cap closure.“ 94 Points
VINTAGE 2019 – 2024 | Retasted by J. Robinson MW in August 2025
Vintage 2024
„Cool and lime-streaked. Lively and tastes lightweight and transparent with marked acidity and steeliness.“17/20 Points
Vintage 2023
„Exotically floral and aromatic. Quite emphatic and full-bodied without nearly as much acidity as the 2024. More heft. Dry finish after flattering fruit that’s almost rich. Perhaps not as much for German Riesling purists but a drink that might wean naysayers on to it. There’s the merest hint of bitterness on the end.“ 17/20 Points
Vintage 2022
„Already showing a bit of evolution on the nose that should delight any Riesling lover. Juicy and salivatory on the palate with fine fruit and cut of a fine Nahe Riesling. Relatively delicate.“ 17/20 Points
Vintage 2021
„Much less expressive on the nose than other wines in this vertical. Sleek, satisfactory fruit with a solid (rather than ethereal) green streak on the palate.“ 16.5/20 Points
Vintage 2020
„Slightly subdued nose, but not as much as the 2021. Fruit is quite rich (I wonder what the RS is?) and it reminds me a bit of the 2023. Very energetic finish. At peak already, I’d say.“ 17/20 Points
Vintage 2019
„Strong lime notes again – a bit like the 2024. Very attractive evolution and complexity. Long and subtle on the peacock’s tail finish. Really exciting. Scrumptious.“ 17.5/20 Points
VINTAGE 2024

„For this site, an unusually structured wine that’s very focused and straight. It shows typical ripe lime and white flower aromas. The mid-palate has lovely creaminess that deftly integrates the bright acidity. Long, harmonious finish with lovely delicacy. Drink from release. “

VINTAGE 2023
“At once deep and delicate, friendly and fascinating, this is a wonderfully cool and gentle dry riesling with ample power. Then the lime and green apple freshness bowls you over in the white light finish. Drink or hold.”
94 Points | jamessuckling.com | S. Pigott
“The 2023 Riesling Trocken Langenlonsheimer Löhrer Berg is clear, intense and elegant on the beautifully aromatic yet also fine and spicy/mineral nose that intermingles ripe apricot aromas with fundamental saline notes and floral/herbal nuances that add a coolish touch to the perfectly ripe and well-articulated fruit. Lush and charming on the palate, this is a textured and well-balanced Riesling from loamy-gravelly soils that guarantee ripe and finely juicy fruit provided with fine, mineral acidity and serious phenol grip. This 2023 should have excellent aging potential, and although it’s already mouthfilling, I’d keep enough bottles to see what happens over the next two or three decades. The aftertaste is generously aromatic but also intense and characterized by the firm structure of this full-bodied wine. 13% stated alcohol. Screw-cap closure. Tasted in September 2024.”

“Lime blossom nose. Medium-light body, pure lime fruit, elegant, strong malic acidity. Screw cap closure. 13.0% stated alcohol.”
93 Points | Fine Wine Review | C. Kolm
„The 2023 Riesling Löhrer Berg was grown on heavy loam soils with great water availability. It opens with beautifully ripe stone fruit, shining with peach and nectarine, promising juicy generosity. The palate, however, delivers strait-laced brightness on a slender but juicy frame. Lemon zestiness on the finish makes the mouth water. This wine exemplifies site in its aromatic, ripe fruit profile, while the house style is embodied on the taut palate. (Bone-dry)“

“Full screwcapped bottle just 1,161 g. 40-year-old vines on fertile loamy gravel soils. Lime-green capsule. Fragrant, floral nose leaps out of the glass. There is real energy in this delightfully well-balanced wine that’s already approachable with a mineral undertow.”

VINTAGE 2022
„The 2022 Löhrer Berg Langenlonsheimer Riesling trocken is from loamy-gravelly soils and opens with refreshing and greenish fruit aromas reminiscent of limes and lemons but also white fruits. On the palate, this is a medium-bodied, vital and quite rich dry Riesling with a complex, savory, well-structured and persistent finish. The wine is still tight but tensioned and linear. It drinks like a cool-climate Riesling, and it’s hard to believe it experienced an extremely dry and hot summer. Maybe its body and intensity give a hint, but on the other hand, the 2022 has just 12% stated alcohol. Stelvin screw cap. Tasted in October 2023.“
92 Points | S. Reinhardt | www.robertparker.com
„The Löhrer Berg has spiced apple components in the nose and mouth. The wine is medium-weight and round with a decent acidic attack. Screw cap closure. 12.0% stated alcohol.“
92/A Points | C. Kolm | TheFineWineReview
„Super-cool and super-crisp, but on the sleek palate this is very polished and the finish glides off into the distance. Then comes a touch of wild blackberries at the very cool and straight finish. Drink or hold.“

„Full screwcapped bottle, with it’s lime-coloured label, just 1,160 g. Grown on gravelly loam. 40-year-old vines. Very light nose at this early stage in its development but a fine, indeed earthy, textured palate. Still very youthful and I’d hang on a few months ideally before starting to drink it. Fresh and vital. Drink 2024 – 2028 ”

VINTAGE 2021
“The 2021 Riesling Löhrer Berg is still discreet on the nose but clear, bright and fresh, with notes of crushed stones and lemons highlighting the ripe apple and lemon aromas. Round and lush on the palate, this is a dense, ripe, textured, mouthfilling Riesling with still-young phenolic bitters on the finish. This is a surprisingly rich and powerful but still elegant and refreshing Löhrer Berg. 13% stated alcohol.”
92+ Points | S. Reinhardt | www.robertparker.com
“As with previous vintages, this is a rounder, more relaxed wine than the Unplugged, and as such, it will appeal more to some, while others, including me, will prefer the nervier Unplugged, at least while young. The wine features mineral and white flower aromas. The mouth is medium-light with the afore-stated roundness but also with a firm, sensual texture that includes a juicy/chewiness, and minerality. It needs some time to fully open.”
93/A Points | C. Kolm | TheFineWineReview
“How can you resist? This dry riesling is mouth-filling yet cool and graceful, with a slew of lime and reine-claude plum aromas, plus a touch of fresh sage character. Excellent structure beneath all the ripeness, the mineral acidity accentuating the juiciness at the long finish.”
94 Points | S. Pigott | www.jamessuckling.com
“Full screwcapped bottle just 1,176 g. Grown on gravelly loam and described by Tesch as ‘smooth and earthy, round’. High acidity suggested by the nose, and a lightly floral, even rosy, note. Chalky dryness on the finish and just a slight hole on the mid palate. Wonderfully refreshing but less complete than some of its stablemates.13% | Drink 2022 – 2026”

VINTAGE 2020
The 2020 Riesling Löhrer Berg offers a deep yet bright, pure, fresh and substantial nose with leafy and spicy white fruit aromas. Firm and piquant on the palate, this is a dense, round and fruity but grippy and stimulating Löhrer Berg with fine mineral acidity and a dense and quite powerful finish. Impressive. 12.5% alcohol.
92 Points | S. Reinhardt | www.robertparker.com
This reminds me so much of the lime cordial I drank as a child. So juicy that you don’t need to understand anything about riesling to have a party with this dry wine. Super balance from beginning to end! Drink or hold. Screw cap.
94 Points | S. Pigott | www.jamessuckling.com
This is the oldest Riesling site in the Nahe. It was planted completely with Riesling at the end of the 17th century. There is a good natural water supply here, and so there is a more relaxed expression than in the Unplugged. Forest and bush aromas here are complex. The mouth is rounder with more body and chewiness than the Unplugged. The wine is mineral with green apple fruit. The finish is long and the wine shows brilliant clarity and precision.
93 Points | C. Kolm | TheFineWineReview
Much more complete and satisyfing on the nose than Unplugged. Springs out of the glass with a firm footprint and some of that promised earthiness. Real grainy texture and very good fruit/acid balance.

VINTAGE 2019
The 2019 Riesling Löhrer Berg is beautifully clear, precise and aromatic on the elegant and seamless nose with its flinty, fresh and white/green rather than yellow-fleshed fruit aromas that intertwine with leafy and vegetal notes of fresh peas. The wine offered notes of red-skinned and mealy apples, for example, but also slightly smoked dates and crushed stones in its early stage yet becomes more and more stony now, with some refreshing phenolic notes. The ripeness level is just perfect, though. The loamy-gravelly soils of the Löhrer Berg give a pure, fresh and frisky Riesling with great elegance and finesse and a persistently salty and grippy-mineral finish. Tasted as a sample in May and then from bottle in early August 2020.
92 Points | S. Reinhardt | www.robertparker.com
The dry-riesling refreshment rocket has lift off! So much energy it almost bowls you over, but there’s not a gram of excess fat on this sleek and toned body. Super clean, long finish. Drink or hold.
93 Points | S. Pigott | www.jamessuckling.com
Tight and mineral on the nose. And then very rewarding (because of the extra half-degree of alcohol?) on the palate. Generous and round – perhaps too generous for some palates? Creamy texture and ready already. I’ve had some GGs with less appeal…
