Round and elegant as well as savory, fresh and citric on the palate, this finely textured dry Riesling reveals a long, stimulating and savory finish with fine grip. This has lovely concentration and vivid purity aligned with the no frills notion of this wine\u2019s ethos. There\u2019s wonderful charm, even creaminess on this super strait-laced 2024. It is finer and airier than the Riesling Trocken and has integrated herbal aromas to the delicate fruit that also comes rather tropical yet in a finer, more discreet way, rather more of an idea than real. Juicy, refined and very elegant on the palate, this is far from being austere but with the character of the lower Nahe. The finish is tight yet also fruity and juicy and not just fruity but still savory, firm, minerally and long. There&#8217;s no reason to fear this wine, but first empty the other &#8220;oops&#8221; bottle to qualify for this next step. 12.5% stated alcohol. Screw-cap closure. Reinhardt<\/b><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">\u201cThe \u201cUnplugged\u201d is made from older vines than the preceding wine, and it is less immediately open, and although there is good grip here, this wine comes off as less aggressive in its bite. Kolm<\/b><br><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">&#8220;The 2023 Riesling Unplugged is the estate Riesling, made from old vines planted between the 1940s and 1970s across the single sites. The nose has the slightest frisson of passion fruit while the palate absolutely honors its name, with straight lines, uncompromising dryness and a matter-of-fact Rieslingness. Krebiehl<\/b><\/p>\n\n\n\n<h1 class=\"wp-block-heading\">2022 Riesling Unplugged<\/h1>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">&#8220;The third decade of Tesch&#8217;s former Kabinett trocken starts with the 2022 Riesling Unplugged, which opens with an intense, complex, mineral-driven nose of ripe, aromatic fruits. The medium-bodied dry Riesling is pure, tight, stimulating and transparent as well as saline on the naked finish. It is denser and more complex than the 2022 Tesch Riesling trocken yet not necessarily more attractive. It is more stringent and age-worthy, sure. So much power and so much energy for just 11.5% alcohol. Sleek and very bright with a wonderful lime zest freshness. The salty finish pulls you back for more. The mouth is medium-light with excellent salinity to go with incipient peach fruit. This is a perfect introduction to the estate\u2019s lineup and ready to drink now. The wine has floral aromas and flavors and is light on the palate with lime minerality, salinity, and a dancing, enlivening acid attack. It is perhaps the driest of the set \u2014 deliberately as it is intended to be drunk on release, the others beginning a few years after release and so have a bit more residual sugar.\u201d <b>93\/A <b>Points <\/b>| C. On the palate, this is a vibrantly fresh, dry, round, intense and piquant, straightforward Riesling with stimulating grip on the fresh and citric finish. 12.5% alcohol.<br> <i><b>90 <b>Points <\/b>| robertparker.com \u2013 The Wine Advocate \u2013 Stephan Reinhardt<\/b><\/i><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The focus of a laser beam and the brilliance of a soaring guitar solo make this a remarkable dry riesling for this category. Wonderful lemon-blossom and lemon-cream aromas, plus a stunning harmony of ripeness of crisp, mineral acidity. Drink or hold. Screw cap.<br> <i><b>93 <b>Points <\/b>| jamessuckling.com \u2013 Stuart Pigott<\/b><\/i><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">2020 marks the 20th vintage of Unplugged for Tesch, and the first time it is made entirely from old vines. The nose here is mineral and citric. The body is round, pure, and medium-light with penetrating clarity to the citric and apple, fruit. The wine has depth, penetration, and is electric. Screw cap closure. 12.5% stated alcohol.<br> <i><b>92\/A <b>Points <\/b>| TheFineWineReview \u2013 Claude Kolm<\/b><\/i><\/p>\n\n\n\n<h1 class=\"wp-block-heading\">2019 Riesling Unplugged<\/h1>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Tesch&#8217;s 2019 Riesling Unplugged is pure and intense on the excitingly precise and concentrated yet earthy nose that reveals perfectly ripe stone fruit aromas but in a very discreet way. Lean, fresh and elegant on the palate, the medium-bodied 2019 Unplugged shows remarkable extract and is juicy, piquant and structured, revealing finesse and a very good finish with stimulating mineral acidity and phenolic grip. This is an excellent dry Riesling from the Nahe, and it has rarely ben that good. Did I say fish, seafood, salad? Those are just some of the situations in which the great, spring-like freshness of this wine will shine. Drink now. This strikes me as perfect for the German palate but perhaps just a little too austere for the average Brit at the moment.<br><i><b>16 pts. <b>Points <\/b>| JANCISROBINSON.COM \u2013 Reviewed by Jancis Robinson MW<\/b><\/i><\/p>\n\n\n\n<h1 class=\"wp-block-heading\">2018 Riesling Unplugged<\/h1>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Martin Tesch calls his 2018 Riesling Unplugged &#8220;the star of the vintage,&#8221; and he&#8217;s does so with good reasons and even more enthusiasm. The 2018 is one of his best Unpluggeds, along with 2015 and also 2017. Bottled with 12% alcohol, this is a winner from an exceptionally warm and dry vintage. New canopy management (higher leaf walls for more shadow between the rows) brings back the Nordic character of the Unplugged that opens with a pure, straight and refreshing nose of white fruits and lemon aromas. On the palate, this is a light and refreshing but structured and even tensioned dry Riesling with mouthwatering phenolic grip on the stimulating and persistent finish. This wine is clear, linear and elegant as always, with no ornaments, no fat, no palatable sweetness and no compromise. The 2018 Unplugged is a terrific Bauhaus Riesling that seems to celebrate the 100th birthday of the art movement that is as vital as this iconic Nahe wine from Martin Tesch. Yes, a star of the vintage, Dr. Tesch! Tasted in August 2019. | Drinking Date 2019-2030.<br><i><b>90 <b>Points <\/b>| ROBERT PARKER \u2013 The Wine Advocate \u2013 Stephan Reinhardt<\/b><\/i><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Unplugged refers to musicians playing without electric amplification so that the listener gets the most pure version. It is Tesch\u2019s basic Riesling and a very, very good one. You\u2019d never guess that this wine was a from a vintage often characterized by its heat and resulting wines of high alcohol and low acidity. The wine is light as a feather with precise peach skin aromas and flavors, and overall freshness. Outstanding balance and intensity. 12.0% stated alcohol. Last digits of A.P. It&#8217;s like a glorious bouquet of wild flowers. Dry enough to drink with or without food, this is neither austere nor excessively fruity. A certain sudden chalkiness on the end marks it out as perhaps not the most glorious of Martin Tesch&#8217;s 2018 Rieslings but this wine is a true delight. VGV at under \u20ac10 in Germany. Pure and fresh on the palate, this is a full-bodied classic, racy and bone-dry Riesling that reveals a first maturity. The wine is lean and straight as well as tight and gripping, and it&#8217;s provided with good length and tension\u2014a Nordic classic from a warm year. Screw cap.<br><i><b>90 <b>Points <\/b>| JAMESUCKLING.COM \u2013 Stuart Pigott<\/b><\/i><\/p>\n\n\n\n<h1 class=\"wp-block-heading\">2016 Riesling Unplugged<\/h1>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Tesch&#8217;s 2016 Nahe Riesling Trocken &#8220;Unplugged&#8221; needs a longer time in the glass at this early stage but then offers clear, ripe and quite intense aromas of white and yellow-fleshed fruits. Medium-bodied, clear and fruity, with good phenolic grip and racy-piquant acidity, this has a lean, straight and well-structured character. Tesch&#8217;s 2016 combines the intense, lush and fleshy fruit of a warm vintage with the lean character and racy acidity of a cooler vintage and is an excellent representation of the 2016 vintage. Don&#8217;t serve it too cool, and give it another year in bottle.<br><i><b>88 <b>Points <\/b>| ROBERT PARKER \u2013 The Wine Advocate \u2013 Stephan Reinhardt<\/b><\/i><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The first impression of this bone dry riesling is deceptively light, but there&#8217;s more than enough substance tucked away in this modest frame to balance the lemony acidity, and the finish is so clean it makes you crave a seafood platter or an open-air rock concert right now.
